"Chic" Recipe and a Birthday Winner

Better late than never!

Hard for me to say, but I didn't even post my Die Cuttin' Diva card on my own site this week. I prepared the challenge post and added all the the Design Team's  projects (I even remembered Mr. Linky and all the links to the DT members), but didn't post my own card. Then I had a terrible headache yesterday and a Science meeting last night, which delayed me. So finally...

The challenge this week is a recipe...
feathers, flowers and/or fabric.
I tried to incorporate all three. I added a piece of black lace over the pink card stock to create a background and the feathers are draped over her blouse. It actually looks pretty neat in person. I like to feel different materials, so this card is perfect for the tactile person.

Here is my project...
Materials:
Forever Young cartridge
pink, blue, and black card stock
black lace
feathers
pink flowers (cut from an edge punch)
pink gems

Happiness Always

Hello!

Welcome back for another challenge at Made Especially for You. You might notice my card is slightly different than some of the other Design Team members. Although I teach and expect my students to read carefully, I must say "I didn't". Shame on me! I was suppose to use the sponsor's digi and I forgot. I loved how this card came out, so I asked if I could use them next week instead. : )

This week's challenge...
Stitching (real or faux)
I am finally feeling more comfortable with faux stitching. I think the pen I used this time made a big difference too. I have the straight lines, so next time I need to try curves or dots.

Here is my Design Team project...
Materials:
Florals Embellished cartridge ~ bird2 (p. 63) cut at 2 1/2"
My Mind's Eye ~ Fine and Dandy paper stack
pink, cream, and blue card stock
blue ribbon
pink button
wiggly eyes
Martha Stewart pen ~ Sephia
Spellbinders ~ Lacey Circles
My Pink Stamper ~ Punny stamps
brown ink

Don't forget about my two small request...turn off word verification and sign-up for Linky. Go back for more information.

Happy 18th Birthday

Hello!

Today was my niece's 18th birthday party, so I had to make her a card for the special occasion. I wanted to make sure is was mature, but still fun. I hope she liked it (I know she liked what was in it! Who doesn't like money!?!?). I asked my sister what to get her and she said she could use money to help pay for her Summer classes since financial won't start until Fall term. I thought, "What a great idea." Well, after cake I asked my niece what she plans to do with the birthday money and her answer was "Spring Break, of course." I guess you're only 18 once.
Materials:
My Mind's Eye ~ Fine and Dandy paper stack
Hannah Montana cartridge ~ 18 cut at 1 3/4"
brown ribbon
green gems
Cardz TV stamp ~ "Make a Wish" set
brown ink

Challenges:

I have a small request or two ~

1. Please consider turning off word verification. Commenting can become frustrating since the verification image is difficult to read at times. If you do not know how, just ask. I can post a message with directions.

2. Use the new Linky box (right side bar) to follow since changes are approaching quickly. I don't want to loose contact with my crafty friends! If I haven't signed up for yours, PLEASE let me know too. I will head on over and register. THANKS!

Lots of events approaching in March, so be sure to come back often.

Georgiana

Thankful Thursday Challenge ~ Purple

Good Evening,

Today has been a relaxing day and hopefully tomorrow will be fun. My niece is turning 18 and we are going to her birthday party. I am not quite sure how to celebrate an 18 years old birthday, but I am sure I will be looking for some ideas since my son is only 6 months younger than his cousin. Time sure flies by! I will say... I am THANKFUL that both of them have good heads on their shoulders and will go far.

Here is my Thankful Thursday project for DL.Art. I went thru the scrap box and chose a bunch of purples. I used the Seems a Little Sketchy layout, although I missed the deadline for submission. I really like how the purples look together.

 Materials:
purple scraps
Create a Critter cartridge ~ scalloped flower
Plantin Schoolbook cartridge ~ circles
Wild Card cartridge ~ Thank You (p. 49) cut a t 8"
purple felt rick rack

Monster Cat for CCR Challenge

Good Morning!
It's Thursday, which means a new challenge at the Creative Cutter Room. This week's challenge brings a card, but also a tip I learned. It sure is helpful when to get a suggestion before finding out the hard way. It sure does help save paper sometimes too. : )

As I browse thru my crafty friend's sites on a regular basis and see all the amazing shape cards, I do get a bit envious. I typically stick with my rectangular shape card base. For some reason, I just love the straight lines. For this challenge I wanted to use Elegant Edges (that would mean I would need to use my Gypsy to weld and that doesn't happen...not yet!) or Birthday Bash since the shapes are already done. Instead, I chose something completely...different (maybe even a little odd).

I went with this MONSTER CAT. It took me some time to get use to looking at him, but he has finally grown on me.

Here is my tip...use heavy duty card stock to cut the body. Mine is a bit flimsy and he looks like a bobble head. Learning lesson there!

Theme: Shape Card
Create a new card using a shape no squares no rectangles!

Here is my project:

Materials:
Mini Monsters cartridge
gray, black, white, and pink cardstock
My Mind's Eye ~Stella and Rose paper stack

The "Be Mine" Bear

Welcome back for another challenge at Made Especially for You. This week we were required to use the provided sketch and a digi (which I am STILL not very good at, but I continue to try!)

I have to share that this was not the first card I created for the sketch. I made another one, then realized I had to use the sponsor's digi. I am including it, so you can see how versatile this sketch can be. I am also hoping it will encourage you to enter our challenge. The submissions have been low and I would love to see more participation.
