Thanks for the New Spellbinder

Good Evening,

I sure hope you have been enjoying your holiday weekend. I have had three days off so far with one more to go. I sure do enjoy this relaxation time. I have eight more days of school, then some more time off.

I used one of my new Spellbinders (Thank You Joanns for the FABULOUS sale!).  I was having difficulties with the intricate cuts, but after some research I found a solution. Yeah! Who knew wax paper could be so useful.

Challenges:
Unscripted Sketches

Fleur de Lis Squares

Other Materials:
My Mind's Eye paper ~ Lost & Found Two stack
pink cardstock
pink and green flowers
white pearls

Looking forward to using all my new Spellbinders.  I want to be able to layer and combine them. Hoping to be as good as some of my crafty friends who look like pros (Lisa and Sherrie).

Have a great night!

I have been shopping at Joanns this past week a couple times since they have most of the papercrafting section 50% off (I just could not pass up the Spellbinders at this price.) and I have been working on more graduation cards. I am not done yet...just a few more and then my orders will be complete.

Here are some more of the graduation cards I have made...

I used a Totally Papercrafting sketch for a few of the cards, but I think the deadline has passed.

black, yellow, and green gems
Happy Graduation Cricut cartridge ~ caps and sentiments
Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge ~ a couple backgrounds

Scrapbook Expo Update

Good Evening Crafty Friends,

Hope you have been enjoying your weekend. Hard to believe it is almost over. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about the Scrapbook Expo ~ Orlando.

The day started off bright and early. I left the house around 6:15 am and got to Orlando by 7:45 am. I used the GPS since I thought it was suppose to take the quickest route, but yesterday Garmin went the scenic way. Next year I am going my way!

I checked in early and received a Golden Ticket for a door prize (didn't win) and then walked around the resort until the floor opened at 9 am. The Expo was at Gaylord Palms and it is beautiful place. If you have the opportunity to go next year, stay for the night. I wish I could have.

Here are my Expo goodies...
Some of the items purchased include...
ribbon
pearls and gems
2 SEI 6x6 paper stacks ~ Cherry Brights and On the Coast
lace (pink and blue)
charms
flowers
mini album kit
scissors
brads
adhesive

Some of the freebies...
Dot -n- Go
window frame laser cut
holiday stamps

I was a volunteer at the Will Call window from 11 - 3. I actually got paid too, which was very nice (and they gave me a free ticket for another Expo). Then I was a Teacher's Pet at 3:30 for an hour class, Great Gift Cards with Andrea Deer. I paid $5 for the class (Expo price was about $25) and got all the materials to take home. Can't wait to make them!
Needless to say, I had a good time. I plan on going back next year and volunteer again. If you have the chance to help at your Scrapbook Expo be sure to sign up. It is definitely worth it!

Flower Frame

Happy Diva Tuesday!

Today brings another challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas and what better way to celebrate than with a new project.
Our challenge this week is...Flowers
Everyone loves flowers and there are so many possibilities. You can make them a focal point on cards, create a centerpiece, or add to them other projects. I worked with my daughter to make this for my husband's grandmother. A picture of his parents and our daughter was going to be included before giving it as a gift on Mother's Day.

She painted the wooden frame ($1.00 at Michaels) and I created the flowers using the Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridge.

Here is my Design Team project...
These flowers (fun2 and fun4) were cut at 2 1/2" and 1 1/2". The heart leaves (p. 22) were cut at 2".
I used a quilling tool to roll the centerpiece, then added a small pearl.
To hold the pink and yellow flowers together I used Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

Looking forward to seeing all those projects you create this week.

Happy Mother's Day to You

Hello Crafty Friends,

I sure hope you are enjoying your day. Mine has been peaceful since I am allowed only to do mimimal work. My hubby took me to the craft stores this morning since my son gave me a Joanns gift card, which was completely unexpected. I was extremely surprised and that doesn't happen often.  I wanted to purchase a new Spellbinder since I have seen so many projects using them (and I have become fascinated with them too!). The store we went to didn't have the one I wanted, so I will check another location tomorrow. We were going to go to the Olive Garden for lunch, but I said I wanted to wait until tomorrow since my son had to work today.  Instead of one day...I will get two days of spoiled motherly fun. : )

Since my Mom past away 1 1/2 year ago (many of my close crafty friends may remember it was very unexpected ~ she was only 54), I wasn't able to make her a card. My grandmother whom I was very close with past away just over 10 years ago; therefore, I bring live flowers to her grave.

I have definitely enjoyed making Mother's Day cards for others though.

Here is a card I made for the school's secretary's sister. She requested flowers and the sentiment.
Kate's ABCs ~ flower vase (p. 54) cut at 3 1/4"

Enjoy the time you have with your family.

Happy Mother's Day,
