Crafting with Blue Birthday Hop

Happy Happy Birthday Rhonda!

Rhonda asked a special group of scrappy friends to join her in celebrating her birthday with a blog hop. You are going to find a ton of inspiration among this talented group!

She is celebrating another birthday and turning a year older. I don't know if that is a good thing or not, but let's help her celebrate and enjoy the day. Can you hear her singing now..."It's my birthday and I'll scrap if I want to, scrap if I want to. You'll scrap too when we're all thru."

Milk It on the Farm at Exploring Cricut

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today brings a new challenge at Exploring Cricut.

The Challenge..."Down on the Farm"
Today, the average U.S. farmer feeds 155 people. In 1960, a farmer fed just 26 people. Want to know more about the American farmer? Check out this link. Lots of interesting farm facts, videos, and recipes.

Here is my Design Team project...
Did you know...There are about 920 different breeds of cows in the world. Until the 1850's, nearly every family had its own cow. Well...this is the closest I am going to get to owning a cow.
Today, farmers use machines to milk more than 100 cows per hour. Before milking machines were invented in 1894, farmers could only milk about 6 cows per hour.

It takes about 350 squirts for each gallon of milk from a cow.
 Materials:
K&Company paper
brown, tan, and kraft card stock
From the Kitchen Cricut cartridge ~ cow (p. 75) cut at 2 1/2"
Create a Critter Cricut cartridge ~ milk (p.60) cut at 1"
My Craft Spot stamps ~ Down on the Farm set
brown ink
 brown liquid pearls
pink skittles
pink and brown craft thread

Hope you will join us at Exploring Cricut for this week's challenge. Be sure to stop by to see the design team projects.

Looking forward to seeing your farm project.

Stay Creative,
Georgiana

"Pile It On" at Whimsical Designs

Where did last week go? In fact...where did summer go? I can't believe that it is almost time for school again (I have training next week and then teachers report back the following week.). Each week seems to blend together, which is why I am posting this a bit late for Whimsical Designs. Sorry! I did not want the opportunity to pass since our sponsor, Paper Parade, was so generous and provided these fabulous papers.

This Week's Challenge...
"Pile It On"
Create a card with three or more layers and two or more embellishments.

Here is my Design Team project...
I layered three pattern papers and black card stock. I even added faux stitching with my white gel pen to match the dashes in the arrows.

Inside of card...blank to write a personal message

I used the following sketch from The Sweet Stop, but omitted the sentiment since the quote was perfect.
Materials:
black gems
orange crinkle ribbon
black card stock

Kaiser Craft Party Collection paper

Just For Fun...
Betsey Johnson Zoo jewelry
My daughter and I purchased a few new Betsey necklaces when we went school shopping yesterday.  We didn't get these, but they are now on the wish list. She did get a crab, a frog in a basket, and a tennis racquet. Super fun charms!

Hope you will join us this week at Whimsical Designs for the "Pile It On" challenge. You still have a couple days to submit a card. I am looking forward to seeing your project.

Thanks Sew Much at Exploring Cricut

Welcome back and thank you for stopping by on this smashing Saturday.

We started some school shopping yesterday (found a new dress for a fabulous price and my daughter crossed off a few items on her list), so today is going to be a day at home...a little cleaning and lots of projects to get done for the class. My goal is to complete my school projects this weekend, set them up in my class on Monday or Tuesday, and then resume regular crafting time. I haven't shared as much or visited lately, but that will change soon.

Today is my day at Exploring Cricut.
Although I do not use the sewing machine often, I sure do like the effect the stitching leaves on a card. The biggest reason I do not use the sewing machine often is I feel I would have to change the thread every time I made a new card so the colors would coordinate. How do you handle that or is it not an issue?
This sewing machine is easy to cut...only two layers. I added craft thread and carefully wrapped it around the spool pin.
Materials:
kraft, cream, and burgundy card stock
pattern paper from scrap box
Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge ~ sewing machine (p. 22) cut at 2"
ribbon from Michaels
craft thread
watermelon skittles by Carri at Abusybee
brown ink
computer generated sentiment
Spellbinders ~ Lacey Circle

Challenges:

Hope you enjoy your weekend and find some time to craft! Be sure to come back on Monday for the new Exploring Cricut challenge.

Georgiana

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today brings a new challenge at Little Scrap Pieces.

Hope you will join us at Little Scrap Pieces for our "Christmas in July" challenge. It is much easier to make a few throughout the year rather than procrastinate until the last month.

Monday Made It ~ AR Incentive Pins

Today I am sharing a project I made for my new AR Incentive chart. I finally decided to redecorate my class since I have used the same theme and colors for 5 years (I love moose and didn't want to change!), which means so much needs to be done in the next 2 - 3 weeks.

My new color theme is going to be black, white, yellow, and lime green with polka dots. Here is a piece of the BW set from Creative Teaching Press, but I am going to add a pop of yellow too. I need get all the materials (they have been ordered from my local teacher's store) and start hanging.

Monday Made It Project
First, I dyed my wooden clothespins black with Rit dye. I carefully combined the powder and boiling water in a plastic bowl. Then I soaked my clothespins for 15 - 20 minutes. Note...Allow them to dry for 24 hours.
Next, I covered the top of the clothespin with green polka dot decorative tape. Use Modge Podge to seal the tape (it adds a glossy finish too). I added a yellow bow to tie all the colors together.

Each clothespin will be personalized with a white 1" circle on top of the black scalloped circle (Spellbinders ~ Lacey Circles). I need to get a class list to be able to finish.
 Mine is done!
The clothespins are going be added to the hanging points chart. I am still working on it, but here is a peek...
Each piece of paper is 8" x 8" and adhered to a polka dot ribbon. A large bow will be attached at the top for hanging.

Here is the inspirational pin from Head Over Heels For Teaching...

This is my first time linking at Monday Made It at 4th Grade Frolics. It is quite exciting to see all the inspiration being shared among educators. I am looking forward to visiting others and getting more fabulous ideas.
Make it a marvelous Monday,
Georgiana
