Happy Birthday at Die Cuttin' Divas

Hello Diva Fans,
Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. I hope you will join us this week since this is a fun challenge!

This Week's Challenge...
Birthday

Here is my Design Team project...
Hubby asked me to make him a birthday card for his father. He even asked a few days ahead instead the day before! First, I had to think about the design since I wanted it to be masculine, so I decided on the colors blue and brown. Distressed embossing folder added a bit of texture to the solid card stock.

I used MFT stitched dies for the mats and a circle die to cut the window. Happy Birthday was cut with my Cricut Expression~ Birthday Bash cartridge. The stars were cut with my Cuttlebug ~ MFT Blueprints.

Kraft color twine to match the sentiment and stars and Latte skittles by Carri to finish the bottom portion.

Make a birthday wish with all the stars!
Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Birthdaychallenge. The other design team members did a fantastic job sending birthday wishes. Be sure to check out the variety!

Thanks for stopping by!

Watercolor Burst Technique

Happy Friday!
What a productive week...lots of items were crossed off my list of things to do. That is a wonderful feeling. Next week is relaxation time, then it will be back to the usual.

During the last week -in-a-half of video watching I came across how to do the watercolor burst technique...it's SUPER easy. If you haven't tried yet, you need to! See the video here by Scraps & Stamps.

First, stamp your sentiment with Versamark and heat emboss with your favorite powder. Then decide what colors you want to use. I was in a pinkish-purple mood. I used MFT Razzle Berry for the card base.

Apply clean water starting on left and work towards the right. Using a watercolor brush, add some paint and watch it spread. I added a few sequins to coordinate with the paint.

On this one I chose a different color palette...orange to yellow like a sunset.

Orange sequins to match the card base (MFT cardstock ~ Orange Fizz).
Other Materials:
Canson 140 lb watercolor paper
MFT stitched die
MFT stamp set ~ Written in Watercolor
Recollections Ebony embossing powder
Artist's Loft watercolor paint (going to get Gansai Tambi watercolors next)

Hope you will try this technique. PLEASE leave me a comment and let me know if you do along with the link so I can see it!

Have a great day and enjoy the weekend.

With Sympathy

Welcome back to Carson's Creations! I am so very pleased you have stopped by today since I am sharing another one of my originals.

Have you ever wanted a stamp set and then when you got it...you didn't use it. Well, I had to have the MFT watercolor flowers and then I was a bit intimidated by the layering when I actually opened the package.

I stamped a little and thought this isn't going to work. I got the MISTI for Mother's Day and thought that would help...nope! Then I watched a video about layering and voila! It clicked. I felt like one of my students who finally "got it".
Now I am no expert, but I sure do feel more comfortable with using these stamps again. I used a few different stamp colors to create the petals, the center is a brownish-green, and then the leaves and stems were a couple different shades of green.
I added clear Wink of Stella to the center, skittles by Carri in the upper left corner, and a stamped sentiment by Craftin' Desert Divas ~ Simply Said set.
I am happy with how these flowers turned out for the first time. I am definitely going to continue to practice layering and see what else I can create. This card counts as Project of the Day #20. Better see what Sharon has posted!

Enjoy your day and take care!

Welcome Baby! (No Baby Here!)

Happy Wednesday! It's Hump Day!

For me...that means it is getting closer to cruise time (I know we just went during Spring Break, but we couldn't pass up this deal.). Hubby and I are going on a cruise without the kids. First time ever! It will sort of be like a second honeymoon...23 years later. I am very excited since it will be fun in the sun and we have a couple excursions planned.

Today I want to share Project of the Day #19. Not to bad...I have been posting almost every day! Sharon...I think this was the best challenge you started! Another goal I set for myself was to try a bunch of different sketches and here is a new one I found. I made a baby card because it always seems to be baby season.

I used the following sketch by Atlantic Hearts.

I used papers from my scrap pile because I now have two places that they are accumulating. I have a problem with throwing even little pieces away since you might need it one day. You just never know! The rattle is from KaDoodle Bug Designs (Precious Baby Girl set) and the stamped sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps ~ More Mini Messages.
Challenges:

Hope you enjoy your day! I have a list that I need to tackle, so I can feel as if I accomplished something today. Be sure to stop by Mee Mee's Creations, so you can see who inspired me to do a project a day this summer.

Today is the last day...Stop by my FB page for a RAK giveaway. Winner will be announced June 22nd (this evening).

Thanks for stopping by!

Gotta' Wear Shades at Die Cuttin' Divas

Hello Diva Fans,

Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. I hope you will join us this week since there are so many options!

This Week's Challenge...
Sunglasses

Here is my Design Team project...
When I saw this saying I started singing that song from the 80's by Timbuk3. If you don't remember check out the video here.

I first cut my base on the Cameo and then applied water color. I used a Miss Kate Cuttables file called Gotta Wear Shades, and then added Glossy Accents to the sunglasses.

A few yellow sequins were scattered along with a couple stars.
Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Sunglasseschallenge. The other design team members did a superb job wearing shades. Be sure to check out the variety!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Sunday!

Today is not only Father's Day, but Dorm Move-In Day. We will be spending the day together moving our "little" girl towards the next step of becoming independent. An exciting journey awaits her these next few years.

My hubby asked me the other day to make his father a card. Of course, he knew I would. I wanted a masculine look, but something a little different. That is when I decided to try these metal sheets I had in my stash! I first cut a 1" strip and embossed it in the Cuttlebug with a Tim Holtz distressed pattern. Then I cut the letters with my Cricut.

I used the following sketch from Jo's Scrap Shack.

I wrapped some gold sewing thread and randomly taped it on the backside of the MFT stitched circle. Latte skittles by Carri were glued in the upper right corner.
Other Materials:
DCWV pattern paper ~ the Natural Stack

Other Challenges:
4 Crafty Chicks ~ Metal
Hiding in My Craft Room ~ Masculine

Hope you make this a wonderful Father's Day for that special man in your life.

Drop Me a Line

Happy Saturday!

Hope everyone is ready to enjoy their weekend. What do you have planned? I told my hubby I'd like to get some new shorts, so hopefully we will find some good deals. We also need to pick up his Father's Day present.

As I was thinking about what project I wanted to make next, I decided to work on some sketches. I had about five or six saved on my desktop and was ready to get crafty.

I saved this sketch from Cardz TV last week because I liked the possibility of different background papers that could be used. I bought this paper pad (The Stamps of Life ~ Laugh Collection) at the Scrapbook Expo and was excited to use the patriotic colors.

The anchor is from a Miss Kate Cuttables file which was cut on my Cameo. I added ribbon, Trendy Twine, and a button to dress it up. Then Denim skittles by Carri were adhered in the lower left corner.

The stamped sentiment is by Whimsical Designs (closed) and it is stamped on a MFT fishtail banner. The background mat was cut with MFT Blueprint #13.
Challenges:

This is Project of the Day #16. Can't wait to make the next!

Have a fabulous day!

Bonjour Glitzy Glitter

Hello Everyone,

Happy Friday! Hope you have enjoyed your week and are ready for the weekend. Do you have any plans? I don't think we have anything planned for tomorrow, but Sunday is dorm move-in day. We shall see if that is a happy or sad day.

At the beginning of the week I watched My Favorite Thing's Camp Create video ~ Glitzy Glitter. I was interested in trying the tips that were suggested, so I ran to the store and bought some Swifters. Needless to say...I had glitter every where, but it was still fun!

I used the following sketch from Sketch Saturday.

I cut the MFT Eiffel Tower on double sided adhesive paper with my Cuttlebug. Then I sprinkled the black glitter and rubbed it with my finger. That part worked really well.

I cut the word Bonjour from my Sentimental Cricut cartridge at 1" and then added black glitter skittles by Carri.

Here is my first badge that I have earned! Yay!
Other Materials:
black cardstock
My Mind's Eye grid pattern paper
Teresa Collins passport stamp paper
tea dye distress ink for edges

Other Challenges:
Creative Corner ~ Glittermania

Time to earn another badge or two! Looks like there is watercolor, die-cutting, and shakers to still participate in. Hmmm? Which one to do next?

Hope you will come back to find out!

Thinking of You ~ Project of the Day #14

Hello Crafty Friends,

Woke up this morning and went for a walk at the park with a friend...great way to start the day. Came home and worked on a list of things to do and accomplished 3/4 of it. Then I took a nice, long nap. I'd say this has been a productive day!

After watching numerous videos yesterday I finally was able to get some inking done. I practiced a little blending, but I am not quite pleased yet, so I decided to try a stencil (thanks to a Jennifer McQuire video). I only have a few stencils in my collection and polka dots are my favorite; therefore, I selected this one first.

I used five different Ranger Distress inks to create the rainbow effect. I only had two round blending tools and had to change out the pads, so I called my son while he was running an errand and asked him to pick me up another pack. He did!

The stamped sentiment is by Lawn Fawn ~ Scripty Sayings and I used Ebony embossing powder. My daughter actually picked out the saying since she leaves for college this Sunday. She said I need to send this to her in a care package. One of her favorite colors is orange, which is why I chose that sparkly washi tape by Queen & Co.

I matched the sequins with the inks and adhered them with Tombow glue. The card base is MFT 100 lb paper ~ Orange Fizz.
Time to continue working on my list. I still have a couple "things" to cross off so I can say "DONE!". Tomorrow is Friday already. This week sure did go by quick. I hope the rest of the summer doesn't fly by...I have a lot more I still want to do.

Georgiana

Just Because ~ Project of the Day #13

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are doing well. The news here in Central Florida continues to get more depressing, but we are keeping our heads up hoping for some good to come soon.

I have been staying inside during the day since it has been SUPER hot and watching some crafting videos. I found one called Scraps and Stamps and Theresa sent me a link to Justine's Crafts. Once you start watching those addicting videos then you have to watch another and then you have to try the techniques. As I watch each video, my list of supplies I need to purchase continues to grow.

I am really enjoying water coloring, but decided to step it up a notch. I wanted to add heat embossing and coloring together, so I went to Michaels yesterday just to find a large flower stamp since I didn't want to wait to order one on-line. Found one! I really like this one by Stampendous ~ Daisy Thanks.

First, I used MFT Blueprint 20 to cut the scalloped edge from 140 lb Canson watercolor paper. Then I used my VersaMark and white ZING! embossing powder to stamp/heat the daisies. Rather than using watercolor paints, I used my mustard seed, frayed burlap, and salty ocean distress inks on an acrylic block to paint the flowers and the background.

The stamped sentiment is by JustRite ~ Large Fancy Sentiments set. Latte skittles by Carri were adhered with Tombow liquid glue.

The card base is MFT 100 lb heavyweight card stock. I love ALL the colors in the sampler pack! This yellow is Lemon Drop.
Challenges:

This afternoon I plan on trying some blending to create backgrounds. Time to get inky!

Father's Day at Die Cuttin' Divas and Miss Kate Cuttables

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back to Carson's Creations where I have been busy crafting away. I have watched videos (which I don't typically do, but have actually enjoyed), looked for different techniques to try, and visited others while being amazed by their creativity. If I haven't stopped by to see you, PLEASE leave me a comment and invite me over!

Today I am sharing the challenge for Die Cuttin' Divas and Miss Kate Cuttables. They both begin today and have the same theme.

This Week's Challenge...Father's Day

Here is my Design Team project...
My hubby loves to fix "stuff", so I thought this was appropriate for him! I used the SVG Cutting Files Trapezoid Handle bag  (cut it on my Cameo) and Recollections pattern paper for the container.

I used  the Mr. Fix-It file from Miss Kate Cuttables for the sign on the front of the bag.

This tag is part of the Tags and Backgrounds file and Dad is from the #1 Dad Title file both from Miss Kate Cuttables. Silver crinkle ribbon, black craft thread, and a silver brad keep it masculine.
Other Challenges:

Hope you will join us at both Die Cuttin' Divas and Miss Kate Cuttables this week for the "Father's Daychallenge. The other design team members did a fantastic job honoring that important man in their life. Be sure to check out ALL the variety!

Thanks for stopping by!

Here's the Scoop!

Hello Everyone!

Today was a sad day since the majority of the news was about the Orlando night club. I was glued to the TV for a big portion of the afternoon since I only live about 60 - 70 minutes from where this horrific terrorist attack occurred. Thinking of all those involved and hoping for some type of positive change.

Once I was able to pull myself away, I cleaned my craft area and then planned Project of the Day #11. I knew I wanted to use a sketch and Carri suggested we use an ice cream. Voila!

I used this week's sketch from My Favorite Things.

This cute ice cream is by Miss Kate Cuttables. I added some pink glitter glue around the yummy swirls. I used MFT stitched dies and the stamped sentiment is by Jaded Blossom ~ Here's the Scoop stamp set.
Other Challenges:

I am so glad Sharon at Mee Mee's Creations inspired me to participate in the Card a Day challenge. It has helped me stay focused and try new techniques, use my stash, and enter challenges. Thanks Sharon!

You're Amazing with Watercolors and Heat Embossing

Hello Everyone,

The last two days were extremely busy with being away for UNF Parent/Student Orientation. I acquired so much information about college (mainly financial obligations and study abroad opportunities) that I am glad there was no test at the end. I am not sure I would have passed the first time.

I am now pleased to be able to share another Project of the Day. This should be #10. First, I used MFT Blueprint 20 to cut the scalloped edge on the watercolor paper. Then I used a few different shades of purple watercolor paints to create the background.

I added a thin layer of Silver Metallic watercolor for a slight shine before heat embossing the silver butterflies and sentiment by MFT ~ Written in Watercolor stamp set.

Teresa Collins enamel dots were scattered on each side to look like they were fluttering.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
